With a victory over the number one seeded Spaulding on Thursday night, the Bobwhites captured their second Division I title in as many years edging the Spaulding Crimson Tide by a final score of 2-1.

It was Connor Wood’s goal in the third period that sealed the deal for the Bobwhites who not only have now repeated as state champions, but have added to their collection of hardware that now sits at a state best 18 titles -in 26 attempts.

“We played great in last night’s game. Last night was an emotional night, winning back to back was insane. It was a great feeling,” BFA player Chaez Skeels said.

With the win, the Bobwhites are set to graduate eight seniors from this year’s team: Owen Hungerford, Hunter Laroe, Ethan Bonnette, alternate captain Zachary Savage, Noah Rouleau, team captain Isaac Cioffi, Hayden Fersing, and Logan Lanfear.

For next year to repeat as champions, “We need to keeping hard next year and do whatever coach tells us to do. We are having some strong talent coming up, and we have some great talent on the team now so if we just keep working hard (we’ll be fine),” Skeels sad.

Throughout their playoff run, the Bobwhites were anchored by freshman goalie Daniel Ellis.

“He is a great goalie and he is only a freshman so that will definitely help us. Especially when he is a senior he’ll be a wicked strong goaltender, and it will be great for us,” Skeels said.

Ellis had 18 saves in Thursday night’s game, and was key to a 2-1 Bobwhite triumph.

“We’re not at Gutterson Fieldhouse without Dan Ellis. It’s not a secret,” Bobwhite coach Toby Ducolon told the Burlington Free Press after the game.
