I catch the ball and dribble up the court.
I see my teammates and wonder who to pass to.
The ball feels light as if it is missing air.
I start to dribble off fast, but I feel a stabbing pain.
It’s my knee and I know that it’s torn.
The work I put in feels useless; my season is done.
My teammates carry me off like a king.
They’ve always told me the greatest setbacks
Are the start of the greatest comebacks.
I realize that pain is used to teach about life.
It’s used to teach brothers and sisters not to fight.
Will I come back stronger?
I might thanks to my teammates and brothers,
Who showed me the light.
