In the BFA cafeteria, there is a small room off to the side you are allowed to sit in to eat your lunch. Most people don’t notice, but it says at the top that it is the junior and senior lounge. This means that it is only for the juniors and seniors. As somebody who sits in there every single day for breakfast and lunch. The cafeteria is full of multiple freshmen and sophomores.
This area should be more strictly prohibited to only seniors and juniors. This is because they have been going to this school for several years and deserve to earn a few privileges along the way. One of the other famous privileges is Senior Privileges. This is when a senior signs a form at the beginning of the year, and is allowed to leave the campus during their lunch time, or anytime they have a free period. That is a privilege given to seniors for their final year because most of the time they have completed all the required classes and just sit in the library either studying or doing nothing. The privilege of juniors and seniors having their own lounge to eat lunch in is a privilege. This is because they need a space to own and be able to collaborate with other students of the same grade level, but this doesn’t happen.
The security staff and the lunch staff do not enforce this privilege that the juniors and seniors have earned, and let the other grade levels use the lounge. Freshmen are almost always the leading problems that either distract the3 students working, or even get the cafeteria closed. This gets rid of the privilege entirely. As a junior, I say that this area should be restricted and more enforced during our lunchtime hours. I can never get any of my work done I intend to do in this space because there are so many distractions from the lower grades and I end up going to my later classes with missing work, or more homework because I didn’t get that time of peace in the lounge for juniors and seniors, because nobody listens to the sign. I also have many friends in my grade e=level who want to use this time to work and can never do it because of the students there. Along with the lower grade students causing distractions, they are always yelling and fighting with each other, bringing in the security and causing a huge mess for everyone in there just trying to enjoy their lunch or have work time.In the years I have been here, and the four previous years that my sister was here, the lounge has never been restricted to just the juniors and seniors like the school says it is.
Underclassmen may want to use this space because it is a smaller and quieter area, where you aren’t in the big open cafeteria. This may also be the time they want to speed doing their homework, but there is always that one group of people who go in there because it isn’t as tightly monitored.
