Fallen Angel by Jayden Derosia (’22)

And as he falls, Heaven rejoices.
The angels above laugh at his sorrow and hug in their glory.
And as his wings turn black, the thorns that prod at his skin.
The tears, they fall, the anger pools.
He hides his anguish, his eyebrows furrow,
shielding his eyes from all to see.
The angels brighter than the sun itself,
Leave Lucifer in the dark pit to wither away with nothing
but himself.
As his hands come together, he knows Heaven
is no longer his home.
