The Crash by Brilee Bourgeois (’22)

The crash of my car,

the mirror in the road,

my bumper on the ground.

My first car, I will always remember,

totaled because of me.

The car sitting in the ditch,

where I was stuck in the car.

Bump, bump bump.

Smash, smash, smash.

Opening the door with my feet,

I was finally free.

I walked down the road

like a lost dog,

crying myself a river.

My car,

sitting there

like a fish

out of water,

unable to breathe,

until it was dead.
