While being a lesser known restaurant in the area, locally, Oriental kitchen makes the best traditional and non-traditional Chinese Food, as it’s only 2 miles away from BFA and in the Swanton road shopping center. Its actual address is 178 Swanton Road, VT. Oriental Kitchen is a small building in between other stores and is usually not too busy, this along with its brightly lit dining room and high white walls with screens and posters of menu items and other Chinese decorations and adornments, and for all i’ve seen it’s not a restaurant chain, making then Oriental Kitchen in VT one of a kind. The whole restaurant gives off an underground family owned place in some big city that makes great food but is not very known. The waiters there are incredibly nice and welcoming, most employees speak in Chinese accents and you might even see some employees’ kids playing outside. Being a regular there makes you feel almost like family, which is something unlike most chinese restaurants in the area. The food also comes out incredibly fast for a restaurant and is always great. My favorite item off the menu is the sweet and sour chicken because of its simplicity, but all of the chicken dishes they make are amazing. The store blends traditional Chinese dishes with more known dishes like General Sao’s, and no matter your preference you will love the food. The chicken there is never dry and proportioned great, one order of teriyaki chicken comes in a packet of 6 large pieces of chicken on sticks, the chicken is tender and juicy while the teriyaki sauce sticks to the meat and is very flavorful, it’s definitely the best teriyaki chicken i’ve ever had, the same could be said for their beef teriyaki. The food is cheap but does not give off that cheap taste and texture, it feels fresh and healthy to eat even if the item your eating isnt healthy. You can definetly eat a lot of it and not feel sick later. Oriental Kitchen for me beats out all of the other Chinese places in the area because of the price and quality of the food, as well as the atmosphere the store gives off as soon as you walk into it. Oriental kitchen for me is a four out of five because of all the reasons I stated above.
