The Little Mermaid was released in 1989 and was written by John Musker and Ron Clements. This movie was based on the book “The Little Mermaid – The Golden Age of Illustration Series” , which is a fairy tale that was written by Danish Author, Hans Christian Andersen.
The movie begins with Ariel, the main character and mermaid who has a beautiful singing voice. Her dad is Triton, who is the king of the sea. She also has many sisters. Ariel’s only problem is that she is extremely fascinated by humans and all of the things that they do and use, except her father does not want her to have anything to do with humans, or with anything that they do. Later on in the movie, she comes across a ship and becomes very interested with one of the people on board. She ends up going to see Ursula, a sea witch, in order to trade her mermaid tail for legs in order to try to find the person from the boat in the human world, which she then later runs into problems with.
This is a wonderful family movie. It is a great option for a family with ranging ages. It is an overall lighthearted, funny and cute movie, and a classic Disney Princess movie. This is a great family movie because it is also a good way to introduce identity, belonging, self-sacrifice, human connection, friends, and family relationships. These were all themes that were shown or discussed within the movie. Additionally, it can be a nice way to show kids the importance of always being yourself, and how important family can be.
Some of the main characters of the movie were Ariel, who is voiced By Jodi Benson, Sebastian, who is voiced by Samuel e Wright, Ursula, who is voiced by Pat Carroll, King Triton, who was voiced by Kenneth Mars, Eric, who is voiced by Christopher Daniel Burns, as well as many others.
The official genres of the movie include animation, children’s film, action, fantasy, musical, etc. After watching the movie, I would definitely agree with all of the official genres listed. It is definitely geared towards children, and was one of my favorites as a kid, and is still a movie that I enjoy today.
Overall, I would give this movie a five-star rating. It was one of my favorites as a kid, and is still one of my favorite movies today. I think that many people know and love this movie, and it is definitely still popular today. It is a great addition to all of the Disney Princess movies, as well as a great Disney classic. I would recommend this film to any children, families, and/or anyone that is looking for an easy, simple light-hearted movie.
