Melting Dreams by Sam Hellmuth

Sam Hellmuth, Contributor

Things in dreams are odd.

You’ll be flying or falling,

then, suddenly,

everything just pops out of existence.

Your mind could create an entire village or city,

and in that place,

you’re running, so hard from something,

that you’ll never see,

and you’ll never run faster than molasses.

Dreams throughout your day,

can sometimes slowly melt,

trickling out from your mind.

To you, it would feel like a memory long forgotten,

is slipping away,

between cracks in the floor,

and out of your mind forever,

To outsiders, all they see is invisible ink,

flowing from you,

like a calm storm,

with a smile upon your face.
