The Comets basketball team is struggling to start a winning streak as they are 3-11 so far this season, but they hope to find the rhythm soon so they can be hot for the playoffs.

The Mercury interviewed Shelby Lawrence (‘24) to get her take on how the season is going.

After suffering from a knee injury, Lawrence said she will not be able to play for the rest of the season, but she still had a lot to say about her team.

The Mercury:   “How is the season going?”

Lawrence:  “I think that we had a rough start to the season, but I think we are improving as it goes, and we are starting to play as a team.

She added that she believes that the team will be able to bounce back and start a winning streak.

The Mercury:   “What are you most looking forward to?”

Lawrence:  “I think that it’s pretty cool that we are going to have pretty much the same team next year because we don’t have any seniors, so we will have the team chemistry already.”

The Mercury:  “How is the team looking to improve their game?”

Lawrence: “We need to improve on our offensive part of the game so by getting up more shots in practice, I think there would be a big improvement.”

The Mercury:  “What advice would you give your team?”

Lawrence: “I think that we always have good energy on the court. I think we need to slow down our offense and shots, but overall just keep working hard.”
