Bellows Free Academy’s Theater Company has returned to the stage to present their annual one-act play, a production that takes place within a single act. Actors in this year’s performance will be unmasked for the first time since 2020.

This year, the show is entitled “She Kills Monsters” by Qui Nguyen, a dark comedy about two sisters entangled in the world of fantasy tabletop game Dungeons and Dragons.

Suzetta Chiappinelli (’23) had this to share about performing maskless:  “Performing maskless and face-shieldless for the first time in over a year was wonderful! Without anything in front of your face, you feel fully onstage, and it makes a difference. When the audience can see your facial expression, they respond, and suddenly all those little reactions you have to what’s happening onstage around you catch laughs. I don’t know what’s more gratifying in theater than getting laughed at.”

The first performance occurred last night at BFA’s Performing Arts Center, and the second will happen at Hazen Union High School on March 19.
