The BFA Mercury met with the 2022-2023 Bobwhite hockey captain Ethan Audy (´23) about his plans after graduation. Audy plans to take a different path than other senior hockey players; he is going to be playing junior hockey in Ontario, Canada.

He will be playing for the Cornwall Colts in the Central Canadian Hockey League (CCHL).

The Cornwall Colts are a Junior A hockey team out of Cornwall, Ontario. The Colts have graduated 94 NCAA players in 30 years.

While Audy will be in Cornwall, he will be living with a billet family and taking online college classes in between his hockey schedule.

How did he get this opportunity? Audy said he was introduced to their coach, Ian Maclinnis, by his head coach, Ben Roberts, while at a tournament in Salmon River, New York in February.  From there, he went to one of their practices and during the practice was asked to come back for the 2023-2024 team tryouts in mid-April.

Audy will be playing a five-month-long season that will start in October.

“I am super excited for the opportunity I have to play somewhere else and the experiences I will get from it,” Audy said.

He is also excited to play a different style of hockey, being of a higher tempo and physicality.

As of right now, his plan is to play two years at Cornwall and then look to go to college somewhere.
