Former Bellows Free Academy Student Robert Gamache (‘23) is welcomed back this year as the newest teacher in the business department, teaching Career Exploration and Sports and Entertainment Marketing.
Robert Gamache, a former student at Bellows Free Academy and former Camp Counselor for the Saint Albans Recreation Department, became a new teacher for the business department at BFA. Robert Gamache Graduated from BFA in 2020, and planned on attending college for nursing, but had “a change of heart” and became undecided, going into college without a major at all.
“My freshman year of college was targeted towards what I wanted to do with my life,” Gamache said. He also added, “I really started thinking about that question and thinking about my values… I discovered that doing day camp as a camp counselor for the past 5-6 years, that’s where my heart was at.” By Gamache’s sophomore year, he declared as an educational major where he then set his sights on working at BFA.
Gamache had only good things to say about his first year so far.
“Yeah, my first year so far has gone very well. It’s nice because Saint Albans is a community I grew up in… It’s cool seeing a lot of my old teachers as colleagues, and seeing that transition in a relationship.” Gamache said.
Gamche’s positivity towards teaching at BFA seems to be reciprocated back through his students. Many of the students in his 5th period Career Exploration class enjoy the class, as he connects with every student by asking them how their weekend was, or playing music the class wants. There’s not often a moment in class where Gamache is not helping a student with work, or talking to them.
Gamche, in his first year, is already fitting into his role as a teacher well. If you were to ask the students in his class, they would most likely agree. An anonymous student in his Career Exploration shared their thoughts on Gamache. Their answer was simply: “he’s very easy to talk to.”
