This year, BFA is proud to welcome Mr. Raymond as its newest art teacher!
Self described as animated, easygoing, and oh so humble, Mr. Raymond is on his eleventh year of teaching with plenty of experience under his belt and currently teaches Art 1, as well as Art 2 and Drawing in the second semester. He has an extensive list of schools he’s taught at before (that may or may not be in order) including places in Burlington, Essex, Colchester, Westford, Milton, Heinsburg, Fairfield, and St. Albans, as well as possibly a couple others, but has most recently made the switch from Fairfield Center School to BFA. The change from elementary school to high school is drastic but he likes both for different reasons, saying that little kids are fun because they’re excited about almost every project while older kids have a much greater artistic ability and are more capable, although that’s traded for a strong dip in enthusiasm.
Mr. Raymond has always loved art, it being his passion since he was two, although he didn’t always love teaching. Originally he went to UVM for his BA in art before he came into a job that he had to teach and fell in love with the profession and enrolled in Champlain College for his teaching degree. In his eleven years of teaching, he’s done many things in schools including: behavior intervention, literacy and math intervention, and technology integration, “But arts the best”. Currently he’s studying for his MA in fine arts at Johnson while teaching, saying “So far so good” about BFA.
