A Review of Oreos
Packaging & First Impressions
The packaging of an Oreo cookie is both simple and eye-catching. The blue and pink, along with the image of the cookie itself on the front, accompanied by a milk splash behind it, make it memorable and easy to find in a store aisle. It has a rather practical opening, a pull tab. This tab allows you to easily rip off the top while keeping it attached at the bottom, so you can reseal it. This is a fun and fairly cheap way to make cookie containers.
Product Type & Expectations
An Oreo cookie is more of a snack-type food than a dessert. It would be categorized as a “Junk Food”; however, in moderation, it’s not bad for you in any way. When eating an Oreo cookie, I had expected the sweetness and the chocolate flavor from the cookie and the cream of the product. It is fairly dry besides the cream in the middle, which helps compensate for that.
Taste & Quality
The cookie of an Oreo is a rich chocolate that is well put together in a mixture of ingredients. The cream of the Oreo has a subtle sweetness that enhances the flavor of the cookie. It is smooth and melts in your mouth. None of which tastes particularly artificial. In comparison to a lot of store brand ‘cookies and cream’ cookies, Oreo has a better quality cookie. I say this because store brands tend to dry out the cookie part too much, which then takes away from, rather than adding to, the whole flavor combined with cream.
Value
This cookie can cost between $3-$7 depending on where you buy it and what size you buy it in. I believe that, for the flavor you get and the quality, it is worth the price. I would consider this cookie reasonable. It’s an “on-brand” cookie, however, so you can still find “cookies and cream” cookies that are store brand and aren’t much different.
Best Use / Recommendation
These cookies are good for many occasions. They make a good snack for children, and they can be brought to parties, potlucks, gatherings, etc. Anywhere that you would like a quick grab and eat a sweet snack. I would and do enjoy this product and do eat them from time to time. I would recommend these cookies because they are sweet and the combination of cookies to cream is experimental (Regular Oreo, Double stuffed, Mega stuffed, etc.) Which means if you’d like more/less cream, you can buy a different cookie to adjust it.
Overall
I would rate this cookie a 4.2 / 5. While I do enjoy an Oreo cookie, it’s not necessarily my favorite, and I also don’t always want them. I wouldn’t say Orea is the best in the “Junk Food” category. I think there are more flavorful things in the Junk Food category, and while an Oreo is good, it’s just a chocolate cookie with cream in the middle.
