Bellows Free Academy has welcomed a variety of new teachers and staff members to its faculty this year. One of them is Katelyn Bouffard, joining the community as a Special Educator.

Bouffard works in the Learning Center, overseeing a small group of students and assisting with any work they may need help with. According to Bouffard, this includes checking assignments, working with teachers, and ensuring individual student needs are met.

“My favorite part [of my job] so far has been just getting to know all the kids,” Bouffard said. She added, “It’s been a lot of fun.”

When she isn’t working with students, Bouffard enjoys baking and biking. She’s also been learning how to ski in recent years.

According to Bouffard, she worked as a Special Educator and taught math at Harwood Middle School before coming to BFA.

“[I came to BFA] mainly to be closer to home,” Bouffard said.

Bouffard has a husband, as well as two children. She got her BA in Business Administration from East Carolina, then attended UVM to get her MA in Education.

Bouffard shared that she was a bit nervous starting work at BFA, but has now settled in and is having fun.

“We’re in a bit of a routine now, so everything’s going really good,” Bouffard said.
