Saint Albans is a small city that is often overlooked, tucked in the northwestern corner of Vermont in Franklin County. Known as the ‘Rail City’ and the ‘Maple City’, Saint Albans’ history dates back to the mid-19th century at the time of its railroad industry. Although this era faded, remnants of it still mark the city today, with its historic train station standing at the corner of Federal and Lake streets.

In addition, an annual Maple Festival is held at the end of April in its city green, Taylor Park. This event draws hundreds of people from all across Vermont to celebrate Saint Albans’ maple industry with rides, food vendors, live shows, a parade, and more.
Surrounding Taylor Park are shops and restaurants, including but not limited to: Twiggs American Gastropub, Mimmo’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, Jeff’s Restaurant, Eaton’s Fine Jewelry, As The Crow Flies, and Rail City Market. Spend a morning browsing these shops and grab a bite to eat at one of several eateries.
Heading outside of downtown, Saint Albans’ offerings range from Hard’ack Recreation Area, which includes nature trails, mountain bike trails, recreation fields, a pool, etc.; and Kill Kare State Park. Kill Kare provides visitors with swimming, boating, and more on Lake Champlain, and a museum in the historic Rocky Point House.

Looking to spend the night in Saint Albans? The Hampton Inn on Lake Street serves as the perfect starting point for exploring downtown Saint Albans, as it is located in the heart of the city. Only a short drive away is Saint Albans Bay and Kill Kare State Park.
