Mr. Caforia sits in his busy classroom organizing his students and helping those who need help before his interview begins. He hands out tests to those who need to make up for missed work and helps them with any questions they have before the test, ensuring they are ready and comfortable as they take it.
He describes his teaching techniques and how he carefully assesses each student to determine their learning style and the most effective teaching approach for his classes. After learning how each student prefers to be taught, he makes his lessons more adept to their styles.
Teaching can take a lot of time, but Caforia decided to also coach the snowboarding team at Bellows Free Academy. He finds himself bonding quite well with his athletes, and although he knew little about the sport, he slowly learned how it worked and became a much more advanced coach than he was in his beginning career.
Not only does Caforia teach and coach, but he also enjoys serving as a soccer referee and helps officiate many local games, ensuring a safe and fair game. He also spends his free time discussing sports with others, asking his students about their sports games, and engaging in conversations with them about local sports.
With such a busy schedule, one would believe that Caforia wouldn’t have any time to do anything else. Still, he helps work with the spirit council group, about which he says, “The council does a lot of the fun things that we do at BFA, and it has been cool to work with students and Mrs. Lib to see how these things are created.”
Caforia has many traits befitting of a teacher and quoted saying that “I am a positive person and am charismatic. I am pretty competitive and really enjoy having fun.“ He keeps positivity in his classes, engaging his students in fun challenges and intriguing methods of teaching.
Caforia took no time at all in finding his teaching methods, finding that the best way to teach his students is through activities like parachutes to teach his statistics class about collecting data and finding the median of the parachutes, and games like Gimkit, which helps his students learn in a fun and engaging way.
For a person who does so many things, one would wonder what his upbringing was like and how he developed the skills of a teacher and coach. Caforia grew up in a small town and enjoyed many sports; he found himself interested in teaching from a young age.
Mr. Caforia’s skills and connections allow him to develop not only his skills as a teacher and coach, but also as a good person to his students and athletes. This brings him closer to students and athletes and brings more focus and activity among students.
