Stephanie Garguilo, from Saint Albans, has been successfully selling and sharing her art with the world. Stephanie has been drawing, painting, and doing much more artistry for her whole life. She runs an at-home art studio and has been accepted into 3 popular art galleries. Stephanie Garguilo is my mom, and I have watched her work for years to make it where she is now. She does commotion pieces, real-life drawings, oil paintings, articles, watercolors, and more hands-on things like bowls, candles, and ornaments.
When asked what her inspiration for painting was, she replied, “my motivation for selling and getting my art out there is to share my love of nature and whimsy with others who appreciate it, my inspiration for my painting is my life experiences, thoughts, and the impermanence of nature.”
Her space is very calm and whimsical. She has a medium-sized workshop/studio behind our house with a big screen door that lets in sunlight. In the summertime, the backyard is always covered with flowers and birds. She finds much peace in painting alongside nature. “I love that I have my own studio. It’s something I’ve dreamed of since I was a little girl. I also love that it overlooks our gardens.” She uses all different types of media, but her favorite to work with by far is “acrylic and oil paints. I love mixing them to make mixed media pieces.”
Locally, Stephanie sells work at Vermont Creative Works, Remarket Saint Albans, Milton’s Artist Guild, and through her online page Beautiful Illusions Studio. She will also be hosting and running workshops all around Vermont. She takes online orders and requests. Art is the biggest form of expression. I asked her what elements of herself she expresses through her painting: “my love of nature, different ideas of human experiences, and my childlike energy of looking at the world.”
Stephanie is a highly inspirational person with loads of creativity, whimsy, and determination!
