On Saturday, March 28, Next GENerator in Burlington will be hosting Vermont’s second Young Entrepreneurs Fair. The event will feature kids of all ages, selling their products, which range from custom jewelry to crochet animals, and cutting boards.
Among the numerous vendors, Dragon Jewels, run by brothers Rothko and Aalto Smith, will be selling stickers and custom-stamped jewelry, such as bracelets, necklaces, and rings. According to Rothko, their business name comes from Aalto’s collection of stuffed dragons. Customers can request a word that the brothers can then metal-stamp onto a piece of jewelry. Meanwhile, sixth-grader Sage Minerd’s business, Barnyard Crafts, will offer stickers, bookmarks, glass beaded necklaces, bracelets and earrings, all inspired by her life on a farm. Twelfth-grader Ivy Resmer will be selling cutting boards at her vendor, LoveArtsyStudio. Other businesses that will be at Next GENerator include London’s Sparkle Studio, which will serve as a face-painting booth; Lake Champlain Sea Glass; Julia’s Arts & Crafts, and Norah’s Colorful Crafts.
The first Young Entrepreneurs Fair in Vermont was held last year, on March 22. It will be continuing annually for the foreseeable future, and is a fantastic opportunity to put on display the talents of local youths. Stop by Generator Makerspace at 40 Sears Lane in Burlington, anytime between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support these up-and-coming entrepreneurs. The event is free to attend, but it would be a good idea to bring cash, as only a handful of vendors are taking Venmo payments.
